How much does it cost to initiate a legal proceeding?

For the current fee for filing a civil case, please refer to this LINK. There are no additional charges associated with the act of lodging the case. If you are unable to pay the fee, you can request a “waiver,” which allows you to file your case without making the payment. You will need to complete the Motion to Proceed Without Prepayment of Fees form and the Affidavit of Financial Status, and submit them along with your complaint. The presiding judge will determine whether you are required to pay the fee.
