If an individual opts to enroll in a driver improvement course and has already paid the required fine, but fails to attend the designated school within the court’s set timeframe, they will be regarded as having admitted to the violation and will be legally declared guilty. In this scenario, the individual is required to pay the court clerk the amount deducted from their fee for choosing the course, as well as a processing fee of up to $18. There are no additional penalties or court costs imposed. The court clerk will then inform the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) about the individual’s failure to attend the driver improvement course, resulting in the addition of points to their driving record for the violation.
