What if I Bear Some Responsibility?

Auto collision cases are often complex and don’t always have clear-cut answers. Occasionally, liability is divided between parties, with each sharing a percentage of fault. It could be an equal 50-50 split or even a 60-40 distribution. In situations like comparative negligence, suppose you win a $100,000 settlement but the jury determines you are 20% responsible. In that case, your settlement would be reduced by your assigned percentage of fault. Therefore, you would receive only $80,000.
