Some franchise buyers are interested in opening multiple locations over a specific period. They may opt to open and operate multiple locations themselves or employ other franchisees to assume control. These relationships are frequently regulated by a development agreement, which includes a development schedule (the number of units to be opened before specific future dates) and a development area (the land area where the units will be developed). The development agreement should be attached to the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) as an exhibit.
