What is the distinction between harassment and discrimination?

Both harassment and discrimination in the workplace are considered illegal. Discrimination is when individuals are treated differently from others based on prohibited categories such as national origin, race/color, gender, religion, etc. Harassment, on the other hand, involves mistreatment by someone else due to these prohibited categories. In simpler words, discrimination often feels unjust while harassment may feel threatening or abusive. Violating federal and Florida state employment laws, discrimination and harassment are prohibited. Occasionally, discrimination can develop into harassment.
