What methods of payment are accepted by the clerk’s office?

The clerk’s office accepts cash (in the exact amount only; change cannot be provided), cashier’s checks, certified bank checks, and money orders. Except for payment on a criminal debt or registry, the clerk’s office also accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa. Personal checks are not accepted. A legal firm can pay by check made payable to “Clerk, United States District Court.” Payment by credit card over the phone is not accepted by the clerk’s office. When presenting a credit card at the clerk’s office, the name on the card must match the name of the person presenting it.
Payments for criminal debt, including special assessments, fines, and restitution, can be made online at pay.gov using a debit card with a Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express logo, personal and business checking and savings accounts, and PayPal accounts. To make an online payment for criminal debt, visit www.pay.gov and enter “FLMD” in the search bar. Select “FLMD CRIMINAL PAYMENT FORM” and proceed to the form.
