Why do Florida expungement or sealing cases get denied?

If a request for expungement or sealing is denied, it is typically because the individual’s criminal record shows: (1) a conviction or guilty adjudication for any felony or misdemeanor, (2) a previous sealing or expungement, (3) an ongoing petition for sealing or expungement, (4) some or all charges related to the arrest or case not being dismissed before trial, adjudication, or withholding of adjudication, or (5) the judge may also deny the case based on the offense’s nature.
